"Social Inequality and Educational Decisions Across the Life Course" focuses on the extent and causes of educational decisions that vary by socio-structural groups, such as school choice at enrollment, choice of secondary school, vocational subject choice, study subject choice, continuation of educational career, or participation in continuing vocational education. Class-specific differences in educational decisions can be observed even when comparable achievements (e.g., grades, competencies, certificates) are available. Therefore, the importance of educational aspirations, motivation, expectations of success, and evaluations of the costs of education according to social class need to be clarified. Another focus is on the causes of gender-specific subject choices in the course of education (vocational training, choice of field of study).
NEPS units The NEPS units are composed of eight educational stages, each of which brings an age-specific perspective to the NEPS, as well as six pillars that deal with the cross-life-course collection of survey content on the core topics of the NEPS. In addition, units with overarching and fundamental tasks complement the organizational structure of the multilocal network. all NEPS units
