The aim of this study is to find out whether established assumptions regarding the motor development of infants can be upheld by empirical investigation and whether there are any potential impact factors on children’s motor development. In order to do so, a citizen-science approach was chosen as a survey method actively involving parents to work as (co-) researchers collecting data. To this effect, a development calendar has been made available on the internet. Parents can access this online where they can enter their children’s “motor milestones” (e.g., rolling over onto their tummies or walking independently and confidently) (see: http://www.ifp.bayern.de/projekte/monitoring/meilensteine.php). After the presentation, shared experiences were discussed especially with the Department “Newborns and Early Childhood Education” of the LIfBi. The LIfBi team is looking forward to a future cooperation and the exchange of ideas with this study of the IFP.
