The Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) has been awarded the contract in the selection process for the Leibniz Competence Center for Procurement (LKCB) to continue its work from 2025 to 2029. In its recommendation, the LKCB Advisory Board emphasized that the LIfBi concept was particularly convincing and suitable for the current development phase of the LKCB - especially as the team in Bamberg has laid the foundations for the successful establishment of the competence center in the Leibniz Association over the past two and a half years.
In its statement, the LKCB Advisory Board emphasized that the LIfBi can rely on a well-established team and existing structures. With three LIfBi employees in procurement, some of whom work for the LKCB, supported by a corporate lawyer and a a strong focus on teamwork and pragmatic solutions, the LIfBi is well positioned to meet the administrative and legal requirements of the LKCB. The close cooperation with experts from the Leibniz Association was also rated positively, especially with regard to the effective continuation of established formats such as “LKCB-vernetzt” and “Leibniz bildet Gemeinschaft”, which have been successfully developed by the LKCB team in recent years.
The expertise that the LIfBi was able to demonstrate through the successful implementation of numerous award procedures was particularly decisive. The Advisory Board sees this as the basis for the further consolidation of the LKCB and the trust of the Leibniz institutes that access the services of the Competence Center in the future.
The administrative director of the LIfBi, Dr. Stefan Echinger, was delighted with the decision: “We are very pleased with the recognition that we have received by being entrusted with the handling of the LKCB once again. Our team has shown that we can organize the award processes efficiently and with legal certainty through close cooperation and pragmatic solutions. Together with the Leibniz Institutes, we would like to further strengthen the competence center and expand the proven formats in order to continue to be a reliable partner in all procurement matters for the participating Leibniz Institutes in the future.”
More economical purchasing conditions, ecological and social sustainability as well as legal certainty for all participating institutions of the Leibniz Association are the fundamental goals of the Leibniz Competence Center for Procurement. It bundles the various needs of several institutes, for example in demanding EU tenders. Since February 2022, the LIfBi has been responsible for the central coordination of joint procurements and framework agreements in the upper threshold range, in which services are tendered EU-wide as framework agreements. In addition, the LKCB team at LIfBi organizes and coordinates networking and knowledge exchange in the field of procurement between the participating Leibniz Institutes.
