Prof. Dr. Ilka Wolter, Head of the Department "Competencies, Personality, Learning Environments" at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi), has been appointed to the IPN Foundation Council for four years beginning March 1, 2024. She is the representative of the non-university research institutions on the board.
The Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN), based in Kiel, was founded in 1966 and has been a foundation under public law since 2007. It conducts research on issues relating to the teaching and learning of science, mathematics and computer science in and outside of schools. Many studies focus on the acquisition of skills in the natural sciences and examine individual, familial and institutional factors of successful learning.
"It is a great honor for me to be appointed to the IPN Foundation Council. I look forward to fulfilling the tasks of this important body together with the other members," says Ilka Wolter. "The IPN has been an important partner of the National Educational Panel Study for many years and has been an institution in the German research landscape for decades."
As a supervisory body, the Foundation Board monitors the legality and efficiency of the management of the Institute's business. It also advises and decides on financial and fundamental matters concerning the IPN and approves the draft budget and financial planning. The committee is made up of representatives from the state and federal ministries of education, universities and non-university institutions. Ilka Wolter will represent the non-university research institutions on the committee for the next four years.
