First "Call for Modules" successful: self-efficacy and motivation, proactive behavior in occupations and conspiracy mentality become new NEPS contents

The first "Call for Modules" in the National Education Panel Study (NEPS) has resulted in new survey modules. After a scientific evaluation and detailed discussion of 17 externally prepared project outlines in various committees, three proposals have now been selected for inclusion in the NEPS. It is the first time that content has been included that has not been developed by the NEPS network itself. The new modules "Self-efficacy for motivational regulation", "The innovative teacher – proactive behavior in occupations" and "Conspiracy mentality and political deprivation" complement the NEPS survey program with content that is likely to be highly relevant for questions from various scientific disciplines.

The new modules will be incorporated into the questionnaires for different interview modes with up to five questions per topic and will be used in different starting cohorts – in some cases already for the next main surveys to be carried out . Work on integrating the new items has already begun. "The NEPS has been characterized by continuous development and innovativeness for more than 10 years. I am pleased that we can now for the first time also include new impulses from outside and that the first Call for Modules has led to such a great response," says the head of NEPS, Prof. Dr. Cordula Artelt.

The first external Call for Modules in NEPS has met with lively participation. Following a review conducted by an internal NEPS committee of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trjectories (LIfBi), that discussed methodological feasibility of all received proposals, detailed project outlines were requested for 17 proposals. These were subjected to an evaluation by the members of the NEPS Annual Meeting and of the LIfBi Scientific Advisory Board. This involved aspects of the scientific quality of the proposed items, but also an assessment of the thematic fit to the NEPS as well as the relevance for science, practice and society.

The processed data will be made available to educational researchers as scientific-use files at the latest 18 months after the end of the fieldwork.
