After the introductory presentation by Dr. Jutta von Maurice, Vijay Reddy was impressed by the multi-cohort sequence design of the NEPS and reported on plans of the HSRC to set up a panel study. There, African youths after grade 9 are to be accompanied in their transition to secondary education or the labor market. Therefore, the interest in the design of the NEPS strong cohort grade 9 was particularly high. Vijay Reddy had specific questions about tracking and incentives, but also about the survey modes and content. As became clear in the discussion, there are differences to be taken into account, but nevertheless many parallels emerge, so that closer cooperation between the NEPS and the HSRC is being sought.
