In her lecture titled “Higher Education and Labor Market Outcome: Results of the Bavarian Graduate Panel”, Dr. Reimer first gave a short description of the State Institute and then presented an overview of the concept and the design of the Bavarian Graduate Panel. The BAP is a national, representative study set up longitudinally over three waves, in which graduates from all Bavarian institution of higher education are participating. Up to now, the graduation years 2004, 2006, and 2010 have been analyzed, starting about 1 ½ years after graduation and then 5 and 10 years afterwards. Central topics of the survey are the studies in general, the transition to the labor market as well as the further occupational career. In the second part of her lecture, Dr. Reimer introduced one particular study out of numerous current analyses concerning the relevance of different recruitment resources (internships and secondary occupations versus traditional applications) to how long a graduate stays with his/her (first) job or the attitude to change it. The lecture was followed by a lively discussion among the numerous attendees.
