Junior Researchers and Further Education

The promotion of young researchers at LIfBi supports and accompanies in particular doctoral students and postdocs on the path of their further scientific qualification and career orientation. The target group-specific further education programme includes events on key scientific and personal qualifications, such as academic writing and publishing or time and self-management, as well as demand-oriented methodological training. Through cooperation with the representatives of the doctoral and post-doctoral researchers at LIfBi - as well as various committees within the Leibniz Association - the staff unit promotes exchange and networking. Alumnae and alumni of LIfBi and the closely associated graduate school BAGSS (Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences) are regularly invited to report on their career paths within and outside academia in the low-threshold online format of the Lunchtime Talks. In addition to information on funding opportunities, calls for applications, prizes or scholarships, Maren Arnold-Vargen also offers young researchers individual career advice in individual cases.

In-service training offers LIfBi employees a wide range of event formats in presence, online or as a hybrid event. In addition to one-day training courses, the programme also includes course series on foreign languages and computer skills. Events from the standard programme of in-company training are repeated for all employees on a regular basis. The catalogue of events is continuously adapted to new needs and offers and is oriented both to competences that LIfBi employees need as a basis for their everyday work and to needs for further development. Renate Dittrich advises on suitable internal and external offers for all employees, among other things on the basis of further training as an education manager.
