Located in the valley of the Regnitz River, Bamberg has a wide range of public green spaces. The ERBA Park with a large playground and the city forest Hain invite you to go for a walk, bike or jog, the rose garden of the New Residence and the paths along the banks of the Regnitz invite you to stroll. The surrounding area can also be explored by bicycle on the well-developed network of cycle paths.
With Franconian Switzerland in Bamberg's direct neighborhood, one of Germany's most popular climbing and hiking areas is virtually on the doorstep. Fans of steep wall climbing and bouldering will find countless opportunities to pursue their sport here - the latter, by the way, also indoors in the region's numerous bouldering halls.
Adventure and outdoor pools, the treetop path in the Steigerwald, indoor playgrounds, water sports such as canoeing, rowing or stand-up paddling as well as a bouldering hall offer activities for the whole family. Sports enthusiasts can also join in with the local basketball club Brose Bamberg and the World Cultural Heritage Run. Other sports clubs offer aikido, swimming, soccer, bowling, rugby, volleyball or gliding, among other activities.
By the way: there are shower facilities available in the LIfBi buildings to enable employees to engage in sporting leisure activities before, between and after working hours. For example, the nearby banks of the Main-Danube Canal are ideal for jogging or cycling.
